What in the Computer Communication

In this blog post, I will get serious about talking about computers and how they communicate with one another. Like people, everyone has to talk back to make sure they reciprocate and understand the conversation they are having with another person. Computers have to make sure they are getting files that another computer system sent to them and just keep that going if they are getting the idea and the protocol.

What is a protocol? That answer in computer terms would be in the context of computer networking is a set of standardized rules that determine how data is formatted, transmitted, and processed during communication between devices on a network, such as the Internet. These rules are in place, this make sure computers can exchange information smoothly, regardless of differences in their internal architectures, operating systems, or hardware. Another thing with protocol, it defines how devices identify each other, start and manage communication, and detect or correct mistakes during transmission.

Now that protocol is defined when it comes to communication between computers why is it important when it comes to the internet and the web. The answer to that question would be  the

Data Accuracy. Protocols help ensure that data sent across the internet arrives correctly and in order. The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), breaks data into packets, sends them, and reassembles them at the destination. If any or all the packets are missing or dishonest, the protocol ensures it is resent.

Another thing is Coordination and Flow Control: protocols ensure that both the sending and receiving devices can coordinate the flow of data to prevent overwhelming on one side. An example would be the TCP/ IP includes flow control mechanisms to regulate the speed of transmission.

The final importance of why communication with computers especially with the Internet and the Web. The final importance will be Efficiency: protocols define how data is divided into smaller packets, how much data can be sent at once, and how devices should manage backup or overloads on the network. This makes communication faster and more efficient, as in the case of the Internet Protocol (IP) handling packet routing.

With all that being written and being written about without the protocols the internet that we surf and trust to find information would not function. This ensures that different devices can understand each other, maintain reliable communication, and transfer data securely and efficiently. With protocol this provides the rules that allow the Internet and the Web to exist as interconnected systems, making communication globally possible as we know it today.

One more thing would be The Web and the Internet are different things, you are probably thinking it is different things let me type this out for you.

The Internet is a global network of interconnected computers and devices. It’s the infrastructure that enables communication and supports various services like email, file sharing, video calls, and more. It uses protocols like TCP/IP to transmit data across different systems.

The Web is a service that runs on the Internet. It consists of websites and web applications accessed through browsers using HTTP/HTTPS. The Web allows us to browse interlinked documents (web pages), but it’s just one part of what the Internet offers.

The Internet is the underlying network, supporting multiple services (email, file transfer, etc.).

The Web is a service that uses the Internet to deliver websites and online content.

So, the Internet is the infrastructure, while the Web is one service that runs on it.
